GREENWOOD – The No. 6-ranked Lander men's tennis earned its second consecutive shutout and third of the season as the Bearcats defeated Emmanuel, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
Lander (4-0) remained unbeaten in doubles action as Adam Elliget and Matthew De Groot earned a 7-6 win at No. 1, Hugo Regner and Tommaso Rossin picked up a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot, and Kim Oshiro and Thomas De Negri cruised at No. 3, 6-1.
De Groot put Lander up 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph at No. 4 singles, followed by Mikael Erler's 6-3, 6-3 performance on court two. De Negri won the battle at No. 1, 6-1, 7-5, and Rossin fought his way to a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 6. Regner ended his match at No. 3 with a flourish, capturing a 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 victory. Stanimir Petrovic secured the shutout at No. 5 as he rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win.
The Bearcats host Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday afternoon in a 2:00 p.m. match.
