AUGUSTA, Ga. - After falling behind 2-1, Lander roared back to win the final two sets and take a 3-2 victory over fourth-seed Georgia College to advance to the Peach Belt Tournament semifinals.
The teams traded 25-21 victories in the first two sets. In the third set, Georgia College led 11-10, but the Bearcats answered with three-straight points to take a two-point lead. The Bearcats would increase their lead to 19-15, but the Bobcats fought back and took the third set 25-23.
Lander responded by dominating the fourth set 25-15 to tie the match at two. The teams traded points throughout the beginning of the final set. With the score tied at six, Lander got kills from Maya Walker and Daria De Carbbalho Peixe to take an 8-6 lead, but the Bobcats would answer to tie the score, and the teams continued to trade points. A kill from Walker ended the match and gave the Bearcats a 15-13 win and the match.
Christina Aguayo led the Bearcats with a double-double. She finished with a game-high 20 kills and added 17 digs, while Olivia Dow added 15 and Walker had 12. Maddie Moss dished out a career-high 53 assists, while Patricia Pantoja had 29 digs.
