Philippi, W.V. – Bearcats come back home with two wins over Alderson Broaddus in both 10s rugby matches.
Jessica Burt got things started scoring a try in the first minute of the first match. Alderson Broaddus would soon tie up the match and take a lead of 7-5.
Paige Wisebaker answered back one minute later with a try to take back the lead at 10-7.
Julia Anhalt closed out the first half with a conversion, extending the lead to 12-7. The Blue and Gold would never relinquish the lead the rest of the match.
Kaylynn Hamby opened the second half with a try in the 12th minute, and Anhalt soon followed with a conversion to help the Bearcats lead 19-7. Burt would score again on a try, and
Erin Wholey had a two-point conversion, securing the first match win with a 26-7 score.
The second match started with a
Jessica Burt try in the third minute. Sha-Lea Davison scored on a try as well in the fifth minute to take a 10-0 lead.
Bailey Burt executed a two-point try soon after to close the first half.
Jessica Burt would have the first two scoring plays of the second half of match two, both being tries to lead 23-0.
Bailey Burt followed with three scores of her own after two conversions and a try gaining 32 straight points on the Battlers.
Kaitlyn Battle would score in the 14th minute on a try and
Jessica Burt closed out the last match with a conversion. They went on to win the second match as well at 39-0.
Bearcats wrap up their Fall season next Sunday in Raleigh, N.C. against West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
