Dailey's 23 points, Passmore's 12 assists lead No. 22 Lander to 15th straight win

GREENWOOD – The No. 22-ranked Lander women's basketball team got a double-double from Zamiya Passmore while Tabitha Dailey made her first eight shots as the Bearcats rolled to their 15th consecutive victory, building a big early lead and cruising past Columbus State 102-76 Saturday afternoon at Horne Arena.

Lander improved to 19-3 overall, 14-0 in the Peach Belt Conference. Columbus State lost to Lander for the second time this season, falling to 15-5, 10-4.

The Bearcats are 16-0 this season when making at least 28 field goals in a game. They made 40 of 75 shots (53 percent) Saturday.

"We say all the time, 'the best players play their best in the biggest games,'" said head coach Kevin Pederson. "Today, you saw all five of the starters doing that."

Dailey paced Lander with 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the floor.

Aniaya Jester scored 11 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter for the Bearcats while adding eight rebounds. Passmore scored 19 points and led Lander with 12 assists.

Jessica Harris added 16 points for the Bearcats while Makaila Cange contributed 10 points while leading the team with nine rebounds.

Columbus State's Leeaysia Williamson led all scorers with 29 points, including 15 points in the final quarter. Aujana Dawkins added 16 points while Eboni Williams scored 11. Chrisalyn Boston paced the Cougars with eight rebounds.

Lander led 9-0 in the first 1:22 of the game and 16-6 after just three minutes. Harris made two 3s while Passmore scored twice and had two assists in those opening three minutes.

The Bearcats made 13 of 17 shots (77 percent) in the first quarter and led 29-19 behind Passmore's 11 points and four assists.

Columbus State got as close as 36-27 with 7:19 left in the half on a basket by Dawkins. Lander closed the half on a 21-6 run including nine points by Dailey and led 57-33 at the break.

The Bearcats made 25 of 40 shots (63 percent) in the opening half and already had four players in double figures. They had assists on 17 of their 25 baskets.

Dailey was 7-for-7 from the floor in the first half, leading the team with 15 points. Passmore had 13 points and seven assists in the opening two quarters while Cange added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Passmore's 10th assist came with 5:18 left in the third when she collected a steal and passed to Sarah Crews for a layup, extending Lander's lead to 65-44.

Passmore went coast to coast for a layup with one second left, giving the Bearcats a 78-51 lead going into the final quarter.

Dailey's basket inside the seven-minute mark gave Lander a 30-point lead, 87-57.

Jester's two free throws gave the Bearcats a 100-76 lead with 55 seconds to go.
