Box Score GREENWOOD – Freshman Carson Theriault tallied a career-high 10 points to lead the Lander men's lacrosse team to a resounding 23-10 victory over Mars Hill Saturday at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander's high-powered offense had 11 different goal scorers, including a four-goal game from Carson Theriault and Eli Copeland. Quinn Ingalls, Adam Mather, and Tyler Kralj each recorded a hat trick. Six other players scored one goal each.
Ryan Zuba, Drew Bruton, Julian Roberts, and Tyler Kralj each scored their first career goal.
The Bearcat defense was solid in the win, holding the Lions to 10 goals. Freshman goalie Liam Mackay Morris made eight saves in net, while Trenton Thomas caused a pair of turnovers.
Mars Hill would strike first as they would take a 1-0 lead after one minute of play. The Bearcats would then score five unanswered goals to give them a 5-1 lead. The Lions would add two goals to cut the deficit to two. The Bearcats would use a 7-4 run to take a 12-7 lead into halftime
Lander would rattle off four straight goals to start the second half. Mars Hill would answer with two consecutive goals of their own. The Bearcats used a devastating 7-1 run over the course of the third and fourth quarters to seal the game.
Lander returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to North Greenville to take on the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m.
