Box Score DACULA, GA. – The Lander men's lacrosse team erased a 13-10 fourth-quarter deficit with four unanswered goals to knock off Emmanuel and earn the program's first-ever win on Wednesday afternoon at Rabbit Hill Park.
Trailing 7-6 late in the second period, Krew Conroy's goal pulled the Bearcats (1-1) even heading into halftime. Carson Theriault netted the first goal of the third quarter to put Lander up 8-7. Neither team would lead by more than two goals throughout the third quarter.
Quinn Ingalls scored to cut the Emmanuel (0-1) lead to 11-10 entering the fourth quarter, but the Lions netted a pair of goals in response, building a 13-10 lead. Lander pulled back within one as Adam Mather scored back-to-back goals to make the score 13-12. Jacob Douglas found the back of the net with 10:05 remaining to knot the score at 13-13.
From there, both defenses took over, as neither team would score for the next seven minutes. With 3:04 to go, Conroy beat the keeper for the game-winner, giving Lander it's first men's lacrosse victory.
Lander hosts its first home contest in school history on Saturday afternoon as the Bearcats host Lees-McRae at 12:00 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.
