PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Lander women's basketball team held UNC Pembroke to 23.7 percent shooting in the second half Wednesday evening to secure a 67-56 Peach Belt Conference victory, extending Lander's winning streak to seven consecutive games. 

Lander (11-3, 6-0 PBC) held UNCP without a field goal for the first 5:55 of the game while scoring the first nine points of the night and building a 13-5 lead. However, the Braves (6-9, 1-6 PBC) took advantage of a cold-shooting Bearcat offense in the second quarter to pull even at halftime, 28-28. 

As has been the case throughout the season, Lander played its best basketball in the third quarter. Zamiya Passmore scored all 12 of her points in the period, netting eight consecutive points in a 60-second span to stretch the Bearcat lead to 39-30 with 6:27 to go in the quarter. UNC Pembroke never drew closer than nine points in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats sealed the road win. 

Tabitha Dailey led all scorers with 18 points and added seven boards, three assists, and three steals. Passmore finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Makaila Cange netted 11 points and secured eight boards to go with her three steals, while Aniaya Jester ripped down eight rebounds. As a team, Lander grabbed a season-high 51 rebounds in the victory. 

Lander returns to Finis Horne Arena to take on No. 10 North Georgia on Saturday, Jan. 18, in a battle for first-place in the PBC.
