Women's basketball rolls past Georgia Southwestern, 80-52

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Lander women's basketball team placed four players in double figures and raced past Georgia Southwestern, 80-52, on Monday night in a Peach Belt Conference game. 

Lander (19-6, 16-3 PBC) shot 47.1 percent from the field, led by Tabitha Dailey's 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting. The Bearcats turned Georgia Southwestern (8-16, 5-13 PBC) over 27 times, leading to 31 Lander points. The Bearcats also dominated inside, outscoring the Hurricanes 44-28 in the paint. 

The Bearcats opened the first quarter with a 19-2 run and never trailed in the game. A 24-point second quarter from Lander, led by 10 points from Mylea McKenith, helped the Bearcats build a 22-point halftime advantage. Lander led by as many as 35 points in the third quarter, thanks to an early 16-2 spurt, and were never threatened late. 

McKenith finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while Jessica Harris scored 16 points and led the team with seven rebounds and seven assists. Symone Starks added 12 points and six boards. 

Lander will play USC Aiken on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Finis Horne Arena.
