No. 5 men's tennis sweeps Benedict, 7-0

GREENWOOD – The No. 5-ranked Lander men's tennis team did not drop a set on its way to a 7-0 sweep of Benedict at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (4-1) earned their 10th consecutive home victory in the win over the Tigers (0-5).

Lander lost a total of three doubles games on its way to the first point of the match. Ozan Cildir and Tommaso Rossin combined for a 6-0 win at the No. 2 position and Liam Roos and Fergus O'Rourke clinched the first point of the day with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 slot. The duo of Axel Cronje and Adam Elliget also won 6-2 at the top slot. 

The Bearcats controlled singles play by winning in straight-sets at each position. Cronje and Philippe Courteau only dropped two games en route to 6-1, 6-1 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. 

Lander returns to the courts for a home match against Emmanuel on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
