GREENWOOD – The Lander women's rugby team defeated Elon 85-7 in the Bearcats' home opener at New Res Field on Sunday afternoon. 

After tallying just 27 points in the first two matches of the season, the Bearcats' offense exploded against the Phoenix. The match marked the second time this season Lander has held an opponent to single-digit points. The Bearcats (2-1) are allowing just 11.3 points per match this season.

Lander is slated to travel to Lee on Nov. 3rd for a 1:00 p.m. match.
