FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 4-ranked and second-seeded Lander men's tennis team came up short in its quest for a 12th Peach Belt Conference title as the Bearcats fell to No. 3-ranked and top-seeded Columbus State 5-0 in the PBC Tournament championship match on Sunday at the Dr. Eddie Floyd/Florence Tennis Center.
The Bearcats (20-3) fell behind 3-0 in doubles play as the Cougars (22-3) picked up wins at the No. 1 and 5 spots to claim the title. The loss snapped Lander's 15-match winning streak, its longest since 2011.
Lander will learn its postseason fate on Tuesday night when the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Selection Show airs at 8:00 p.m.
