No. 2 Lander downs North Georgia, 8-1

GREENWOOD – The No. 2-ranked Lander men's tennis team earned its ninth consecutive victory on Tuesday with an 8-1 win over PBC foe North Georgia at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Lander (14-2, 7-1 PBC) held an opponnent to less than two points for the fourth time in its last nine outings and handed North Georgia (7-5, 1-4 PBC) its worst loss since April 2, 2016, when the Bearcats blanked the Nighthawks 9-0.

The Bearcats swept through doubles play and took five of six singles points. Ozan Cildir and Axel Cronje each earned 6-3, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 4, while Eirik Groner fought back from down a set to take a 10-4 tiebreaker at No. 1.

Lander looks to extend its winning streak to double digits on Saturday as the Bearcats host Limestone at 2:00 p.m.
