GREENWOOD – The No. 8-ranked Lander men's tennis team fell in a battle of top-10 teams on Saturday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center, dropping a 7-2 decision to No. 4 Columbus State.
Lander (5-2, 0-1 PBC) trailed 2-0 after the first two doubles matches, but Alexander Regner and David Korsten rallied to win a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles and cut the Bearcat deficit to 2-1 entering singles play.
Columbus State (5-0, 1-0 PBC) took control in singles, moving ahead 4-1 and holding the Bearcats to just one singles victory en route to a 7-2 win. Ozan Cildir picked up Lander's lone win in singles play at the No. 4 spot.
Lander will look to pick up its first conference win on Saturday afternoon as the Bearcats play host to Georgia Southwestern.
