FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The No. 9-ranked Lander men's tennis team took control early and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Emmanuel on Tuesday evening.
The Bearcats (6-2) got an early lead on the Lions (3-5), taking all three doubles points. Holding a 3-0 lead entering singles play, Lander picked up another point after a retirement by Emmanuel at the No. 2 spot. The Lions picked up their first point with a win at No. 1 singles
From there, the Bearcats put the match away, winning in straight sets at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots to seal the match. The teams split a pair of pro sets at No. 4 and No. 6 after Lander had clinched the win.
The Bearcats return to Greenwood to open Peach Belt Conference play on Friday, facing No. 3 Columbus State at 2:00 p.m. at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
