GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team begins the 2017 campaign on Tuesday afternoon as the Bearcats welcome Limestone to Doug Spears Field. Games are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
• Lander is entering its 36th season of softball.
• The Bearcats were picked to finish sixth in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll.
• Lander recorded its first winning season since 2003 last year, finishing 26-21. The Bearcats made the PBC Tournament for the first time since 2010 and set a program record with 12 wins over conference opponents.
• The Bearcats had two players earn all-conference honors last season. Kelli McCormack was named a first-team utility player, while MaKenzie Smith made the second team as an outfielder.
• Lander did not lose a single player to graduation last season, returning 18 members of the 2016 team.
• The Bearcats return seven players who batted over .300 last year.
• Only six of Lander's first 18 games will take place at home.
