Palm Harbor, Fla. – The No. 23-ranked Lander golf team finished fifth at this week's Copperhead Championship. Sophomore Conor Richards was the top finisher for the Bearcats with a three-round 1-over par performance.

Florida Southern claimed the team victory behind top five finishes from brothers John VanDerLaan and Michael VanDerLaan. Richards finished six strokes back of J. VanDerLaan who claimed the individual victory in a playoff over Saint Leo sophomore Alberto Castagnara.

Senior James Bartlett and junior Michael Brodie were the next highest finishers for Lander with 17th and 31st place performances respectively.

Sophomore Jon Parker and redshirt junior Garrett Atkinson rounded out the group of Lander qualifiers in the team competition with finishes of 50th and 51st respectively.

Lander will be back in action in two weeks at the McDonough Cup in Orlando, Fla.
