FLORENCE, S.C. - The nationally No. 5-ranked and second-seeded Lander men's tennis team fell to No. 10 and third-seeded Columbus State, 5-4, Saturday night, in the semifinal round of the rain-delayed Peach Belt Conference Tournament hosted by Francis Marion at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.

Lander, which moves to 17-4 overall, will face No. 13 and fourth-seeded Georgia College at 1 p.m., Sunday, in the third place match.

Earlier in the day, Lander downed No. 14 and seventh-seeded Flagler, 5-1, in a quarterfinal match.

The Bearcats took a 3-0 lead after the doubles competition when No. 1 Marc Hofer/Loic Minery (L) def. Kevin Gonzalez/Lukas Storck (F) 9-8 (9-7); No. 2 Chris Devoize/David Korsten (L) def. Willy Hasselberg/Lennart Luneborg (F) 8-4; and No. 3 Ozan Cildir/Charles Baron (L) def. Hermann Gertmann/Daniel Arrien (F) 8-5.

In singles, which Lander needed just two wins to clinch the match, No. 2 Lukas Storck (F) def. Marc Hofer (L) 6-2, 6-1; No. 3 Loic Minery (L) def. Willy Hasselberg (F) 6-1, 6-1; and No. 6 Charles Baron (L) def. Konstantin Dustmann (F) 6-2, 6-4.
