GREENWOOD - The Lander men's tennis team, which is ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II, remained unbeaten in Peach Belt Conference play Saturday afternoon when the Bearcats downed Francis Marion, 8-1, at The Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Lander improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the PBC, while FMU drops to 5-4, 0-2.

In singles, No. 1 Chris Devoize (LU) def. Richard Ashforth (FMU) 6-2, 7-6; No. 2 Philipp Sluga (FMU) def. Marc Hofer (LU) 6-2, 6-3; No. 3 Loic Minery (LU) def. Robin Hoek (FMU) 6-2, 6-1; No. 4 David Korsten (LU) def. J. Roettlingsberger (FMU) 6-4, 6-4; No. 5 Ozan Cildir (LU) def. Tarass Thevenaz (FMU) 6-3, 6-2; and No. 6 Alexander Regner (LU) def. Raul Madrid (FMU) 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles, No. 1 Chris Devoize/Alexander Regner (LU) def. Richard Ashforth/Robin Hoek (FMU) 8-3; No. 2 Loic Minery/Ozan Cildir (LU) def. J. Roettlingsberger/Raul Madrid (FMU) 8-6; No. 3 Marc Hofer/David Korsten (LU) def. Tarass Thevenaz/Patrick Hensley (FMU) 8-4.

The Bearcats will next play non-conference opponent Mount Olive at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4.
