Flagler wins Bearcat Classic; Lander ties for sixth

GREENWOOD - Led by individual medalist Sebastian Barnoya, the No. 12-ranked Flagler College men's golf team led the Sixth Annual Bearcat Golf Classic from wire to wire and claimed the team title Tuesday at the two-day, three-round tournament hosted by Lander University at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club. Host Lander tied for sixth place.

Flagler shot rounds of 281-274-278 for a low 833. The Saints were followed by: 2. Georgia College 858, 3. Columbus State 859, 4. Clayton State 863, 5. Newberry 864, 6. Lander, Mount Olive and Georgia Southwestern 865, 9. Belmont Abbey 868, 10. Erskine 869, 11. Coker 871, 12. King 875, 13. Young Harris 877, 14. Florida Tech 881, 15. North Georgia 883, 16. Montevallo 903, and 17. Lander (B) 908.

Barnoya carded a 13-under-par 203 after shooting rounds of 69-66-68. Newberry College's Tommy Hurst (68-71-69) placed second overall with 208, while Georgia College's Ryan Trocchio (68-68-73) was third with 209.

Individually for Lander, Michal Pospisil (73-70-72) and Jordan Ainley (72-73-70) tied for 15th with 215, James Bartlett (71-77-72) tied for 46th with 220, and Rob Prior (75-72-74) and Neal Todd (75-71-75) tied for 54th 221.
