PEMBROKE, N.C. - Breshay Johnson posted a double-double Wednesday evening and led four Lander players in double figures as the Lady Bearcats' women's basketball team defeated UNC Pembroke, 78-58, in a Peach Belt Conference game at the English E. Jones Center.

Lander improves to 20-4 overall and 13-2 in the PBC, while UNCP drops to 7-15, 5-10.

Johnson netted a game-high 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win. She connected on 6-of-11 field goals and 3-of-5 free throws. Bre Crum added 14 points and four assists; Ty'hesha Reynolds 10 points and four rebounds; and Cierra Kendrick 10 points and three rebounds.

Jasmine Huntley was the lone Lady Brave in double figures with 10 points, while Mary Robinson led UNCP in rebounds with 11.

The Lady Bearcats, who led at halftime, 35-29, connected on 27-of-70 field goals (38.6 percent), including 9-of-27 threes (33.3 percent), and 15-of-22 foul shots (68.2 percent).

UNCP, who won the battle of the boards, 56-45, was 22-of-74 from the floor (29.7 percent), including 5-of-19 three pointers (26.3 percent), and 9-of-15 from the free throw line (60 percent).

Lander grabbed its first double-digit lead at 42-31 on a Brianna Gipson layup with 17:32 left in the game. The Lady Bearcats took their first 20-point lead at 67-46 on a Kayla West three pointer with 5:49 left to play.

The Lady Bearcats largest lead was 23 points (78-55), which came as the result of an Ashleigh Zandi three with 23 seconds left to play.

Lander will next host Flagler College at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, in Horne Arena.
