CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Lander women's basketball team placed three players in double figures Thursday afternoon, but fell to Johnson C. Smith, 64-60, in a non-conference game in Brayboy Gymnasium.

Johnson C. Smith improves to 9-4 overall, while Lander slips to 8-4. The Lady Bearcats will next host Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference game at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, in Horne Arena.

Bre Crum led the Lady Bearcats with 15 points and six rebounds, while Sannayyiah Johnson added 14 points, Jada Wallace 10 points and six rebounds, and Breshay Johnson nine points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Bulls were led by A'Diyah Ussery's 19 points, while Ashley Porter added 16 points and 17 rebounds.

Lander, which led 32-24 at halftime, connected on 23-of-68 field goals (33.8 percent), including 5-of-19 threes (26.3 percent), and 9-of-20 foul shots (45 percent).

Johnson C. Smith, which outscored the Bearcats, 40-28 in the second half, was 20-of-52 from the floor (38.5 percent), including 6-of-17 threes (35.3 percent), and 18-of-28 free throws (64.3 percent). The Golden Bulls outrebounded Lander, 49-39.
