Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Lander volleyball team went toe-to-toe with Armstrong State Friday night, but the Pirates eked out a two-point win in the fifth set and claimed the Peach Belt Conference match, 3-2, at the Armstrong Recreation Center. Game scores were: 26-28, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 18-16.
Armstrong improves to 17-8 overall and 13-5 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 22-11, 10-7.
The Bearcats close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Flagler for a 2 p.m. contest in St. Augustine, Fla.
Khiana Kelly led the Bearcat attack with 15 kills, while Julia Ferreira-Alves and Halle Dotson added 12 each and Kendall Korte a double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs. Both Lander setters had double-doubles as Sophia Perkins tallied 27 assists and 17 digs, and Ali Kirk 25 assists and 13 digs. Mallory Taylor chipped in 22 digs and Reyonia Whipple led the team in blocks with seven.
Armstrong was led by Anna McGee (25 kills), Emily Wylie (16 kills), Raegan Grooms (10 kills, 21 digs), Kristi Vaughn (35 assists, 12 digs), Carley Eiken (25 assists), and Iva Scepanovic (22 digs).
