Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. - Senior Robert Seaton scored one of the biggest goals of his career Wednesday night when he fired in the game winner to lead the unbeaten and No. 25-ranked Lander men's soccer team to a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference overtime victory at UNC Pembroke.
The Bearcats move to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the PBC, while UNC Pembroke drops to 4-4-1, 1-2-1. Lander's 8-0 start is the second-best in program history.
The Braves claimed a 1-0 lead at 69:30 when Branco Theis found the back of the net off a double-assist from Jordan Walshaw and Tom Potter.
Lander forced the overtime with less than three minutes remaining in regulation after Hugo Delhommelle fired in a hard shot from the top of the box off a pass from Sam Lofts at 87:18.
Seaton's game winner came at 95:29 off another Lofts' assist.
Lander outshot the Braves, 27-17, and led in corner kicks, 10-6.
Both Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen and UNCP's Kenneth Perkinson had five saves.
The Bearcats will next host Clayton State at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, in a PBC game at Van Taylor Stadium.
