ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lander men's golf team placed 18th of 22 teams Tuesday in the two-day, three-round McDonough Cup, which was hosted by Rollins College at the par-72, 6,955-yard Rio Pinar Country Club. Ten Top 20 teams competed in the tournament.
Lynn University, which is ranked No. 17, won the tournament with a 28-under-par 836, 15 strokes ahead of second place Flagler. West Florida was third at 852 and was followed by: 4. Florida Southern 855, 5. St. Leo and Georgia Southwestern 857, 7. Nova Southeastern 858, 8. Lincoln Memorial and Mount Olive 859, 10. Barry 861, 11. Rollins 862, 12. Carson-Newman 873, 13. Florida Tech 875, 14. California Baptist, Tampa and Georgia College 877, 17. Erskine 878, 18. Lander 882, 19. Armstrong State 886, 20. Belmont Abbey 900, 21. Palm Beach Atlantic 902, and 22. Eckerd 923.
Individually for Lander, Jordan Ainley (74-73-72) and Garrett Atkinson (70-74-75) tied for 46th at 219, James Bartlett (78-71-73) tied for 72nd with 222, and Michal Pospisil (76-73-79) and Chris Kendall (73-77-78) tied for 101st at 228.
