Lady Bearcats ranked No. 24 in D2SIDA national poll

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball team is making its first appearance in the national rankings this week at No. 24 in the D2SIDA poll, which was released late Tuesday night.

The Lady Bearcats, 11-2 overall and winners of 11 straight games, host Peach Belt Conference rival Young Harris at 5:30 p.m. today in Horne Arena.

Emporia State (11-0) is the unanimous No. 1-ranked team in the country after collecting all 16 first-place votes and totaling 400 points. Lewis (13-0) is second with 381 points and is followed by: 3. Adelphi (13-0) 358, 4. Florida Tech (11-0) 340, 5. West Texas A&M (9-1) 331, 6. Columbus State (13-0) 303, 7. Northern State (13-1) and Seattle Pacific (11-1) 281, 9. Indiana PA (12-0) 279, and 10. Limestone (11-1) 235.

The next 10 are: 11 Alaska Anchorage (13-1) 225, 12. Rollins (9-1) 203, 13. Stonehill (9-1) and Midwestern State (11-1) 195, 15. Wayne State (9-1) 180, 16. California PA (11-2) 176, 17. Arkansas Tech (10-1) 163, 18. Nova Southeastern (9-2) 133, 19. Drury (9-2) 96, and Humboldt State (10-1) 88.

Rounding out the poll are: 21. Assumption (10-2) 77, 22. UC-Colorado Springs (11-2) 63, 23. Pittsburg State (12-1) 52, 24. Lander (11-2) 41, and 25. Carson-Newman (11-1) 39.
