FLORENCE - The Lander women's volleyball team stretched their season-opening record to 4-0 Saturday when the Bearcats defeated Shorter, 3-0, and Mount Olive, 3-0.

The Bearcats defeated Shorterl, 25-21, 25-19, 27-25, then went 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 against Mount Olive.

Against Shorter, Lander's Kaitlyn Harrison led the way with 11 kills, while Jessica Register had 29 assists and 14 digs, Julie Ferreira-Alves 25 digs and Kendall Korte 12 digs.

For Shorter, Elizabeth Dowd had 15 kills and 16 assists, Jasmine Crook 13 kills and 16 digs, Dena Pierce 18 assists and 15 digs.

Against Mount Olive, Lander's Korte had 11 kills, Register 18 assists, Ali Kirk 12 assists, Ferreira-Alves 14 digs and Bradley 12 digs.

Montgomery Register paced Mount Olive with nine kills, Samantha Winfield had 26 assists and 13 digs, and Clara Ervin 10 digs.
