COLUMBUS, Ga. – Lander's James Bartlett placed fifth overall and led the Lander men's golf team to fourth place of 17 teams Tuesday at the two-day, three-round AFLAC/Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State University at the par-71, 6,515-yard Country Club of Columbus.
Bartlett, a freshman from Brockenhurst, England, opened the tournament with a 5-under-par 66 and followed with rounds of 68 and 75 for 4-under-par 209. Lander's Jordan Ainley tied for 17th at 215 (73-72-70), Rob Prior tied for 22nd at 217 (74-70-73), Carlos Solis tied for 60th at 226 (80-72-74), and Neal Todd tied for 68th at 229 (70-75-84).
Lee University won the team competition with a 1-under-par 851 and was followed by: 2. West Georgia 852, 3. Columbus State 855, 4. Lander 857, 5. Florida Tech 859, 6. UNC Pembroke 863, 7.
