Box Score 2 SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Lander volleyball team split its matches Saturday afternoon as the Bearcats dropped a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference decision to No. 20-ranked Armstrong, then defeated Mount Olive, 3-0, in a non-conference contest. Armstrong downed the Bearcats, 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-13. Lander defeated Mount Olive, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.
Lander moves to 14-5 overall and 3-5 in the PBC, while Armstrong improves to 14-1, 9-0. Mount Olive dropped to 5-14 overall.
Against Mount Olive, Lander was led by Kendall Korte and Sydney Tracy, who had 14 and 10 kills respectively. Jessica Register added 31 assists and 10 digs, Julia Ferreira-Alves 14 digs and Kaitlyn Harrison 13 digs.
Mount Olive was led by Britni Johnson (eight kills, 17 digs), Samantha Winfield (18 assists), and Aubrey McKinney (11 assists).
Against Armstrong, Korte had 14 kills, while Harrison and Kate Schwartz had eight each, Register totaled 35 assists, Ferreira-Alves 13 digs, and Sarah Bradley 12 digs.
Armstrong was led by Stephanie Sfara (17 kills, 20 digs), Rachel Thompson (15 kills), Anna McGee (15 kills), Emily Wylie (11 kills), Taylor Permenter (10 kills), Kamryn Sherman (69 assists, 10 digs), and Morgan Hill (17 digs).
The Bearcats will next host Francis Marion in a 7 p.m. PBC match on Friday, Oct. 17.
