PEMBROKE, N.C. – Lander's Alexis Armstrong and Ashleigh Zandi scored 14 points each Wednesday night as the Lady Bearcats women's basketball team lost to UNC Pembroke, 66-56, in a Peach Belt Conference contest at English E. Jones Gymnasium.

UNCP improves to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the PBC, while Lander moved to 8-8, 3-4.

Zandi also grabbed seven rebounds, while Portia McCray posted 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Bearcats.

Jazmine Kemp and Kierra Haney both recorded double-doubles for the Lady Braves. Haney had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Kemp 14 points and 10 rebounds and Avae' Hardy 12 points.

UNCP, which led 32-22 at halftime, connected on 23-of-50 field goals (38.3 percent), 4-of-16 threes (25 percent) and 16-of-21 free throws (76.2 percent).

Lander made 19-of-67 field goals (28.4 percent), including 7-of-37 threes (18.9 percent), and 11-of-15 foul shots (73.3 percent).

UNCP outrebounded Lander, 48-42.
