GREENWOOD – The No. 7-ranked Lander men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and three singles to claim a 5-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over No. 17 Georgia College Sunday at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
Lander improves to 13-1 overall and 9-0 in the PBC, while Georgia College moves to 17-4, 7-3. The unfinished matches were halted when Lander had enough points for the win.
In singles, No. 1 Paul-Henri Arrigoni (LUM) vs. #48 Johan Wadstein (GC-M) unfinished; No. 2 Vincent Verpeaux (LUM) def. Andreas Ainalides (GC-M) 6-3, 7-6; No. 3 Oscar Axelsson (LUM) vs. Yannick Hass (GC-M) unfinished; No. 4 Adam Jonsson (LUM) def. Alex Schubert (GC-M) 6-4, 0-6, 6-2; No. 5 Diego Zegarra (LUM) vs. Mattia Campus (GC-M) unfinished; and No. 6 August Iwdal (LUM) def. Wictor Andersson (GC-M) 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, No. 1 August Iwdal/Adam Jonsson (LUM) def. Taylor Powell/Johan Wadstein (GC-M) 8-3; No. 2 Paul-Henri Arrigoni/Vincent Verpeaux (LUM) def. Wictor Andersson/Yannick Hass (GC-M) 8-3; and No. 3 Andreas Ainalides/Alex Schubert (GC-M) def. Samuel Poutignat/Oscar Axelsson (LUM) 8-2.
