FLORENCE – The No. 8 Lander men's tennis team swept the doubles competition and took five of six singles matches Wednesday afternoon to post an 8-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over No. 27 Francis Marion.
Lander improves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while FMU drops to 5-3, 1-3.
In singles, No. 1 Alex Caspari (FMU) def. Paul-Henri Arrigoni (L) 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 Vincent Verpeaux (L) def. Gavin Davison (FMU) 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 Adam Jonsson (L) def. Arnaud Holl (FMU) 7-5, 6-3; No. 4 Oscar Axelsson (L) def. Eimon Heywood (FMU) 6-2, 6-2; No. 5 Diego Zegarra (L) def. Marius Wahlier (FMU) 7-6 (7-5), 6-2; and No. 6 August Iwdal (L) def. Luke Bateup (FMU) 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles, No. 1 August Iwdal/Adam Jonsson (L) def. Alex Caspari/Gavin Davison (FMU) 8-3; No. 2 Paul-Henri Arrigoni/Vincent Verpeaux (L) def. Marius Wahlier/Luke Bateup (FMU) 8-2; and No. 3 Samuel Poutignat/Oscar Axelsson (L) def. Arnaud Holl/Eimon Heywood (FMU) 8-4.
