Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. - Portia McCray scored a team-high 12 points Saturday night in the Lander women's basketball team's 65-51 Peach Belt Conference loss to Georgia Regents University Augusta at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
GRU Augusta improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 the PBC, while Lander evens its record at 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the PBC.
McCray connected on 6-of-8 field goals and grabbed four rebounds, while Alexis Armstrong had 12 rebounds, and Kayla West five assists.
Augusta's Tavia Sykes and Jemimah Ashby led the Lady Jaguars with 14 points each, and Brooke McCants had 12 points. Becky Newhouse led the team in rebounds with eight.
Lander connected on 19-of-54 floor shots (35.3 percent), 4-of-17 threes (23.5 percent) and 9-of-15 free throws (60 percent).
GRU Augusta made 19-of-52 field goals for 36.5 percent, 5-of-11 threes (45.5 percent) and 22-of-28 foul shots (78.6 percent).
GRU Augusta, which led at halftime, 32-26, outrebounded Lander, 38-36.
