TIGERVILLE – Alyssia Watkins scored 16 points and Portia McCray added 11 to lead the Lander women's basketball team in a 71-58 non-conference loss against North Greenville University at Hayes Gymnasium.

North Greenville improves to 2-6, while Lander drops to 4-3.

Watkins, connected on 6-of-13 floor shots and 4-of-10 free throws. Alexis Armstrong led Lander in rebounds with 10 and also chipped in nine points.

Timisty Nelson led the Crusaders with 23 points, while Alisha Hope had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Jaquazha Barrino 10 points and eight rebounds.

Lander connected on 21-of-67 field goals (31.3 percent), 1-of-7 threes (14.3 percent) and 15-of-30 free throws (50 percent).

North Greenville made made 28-of-60 floor shots (46.7 percent), 6-of-17 threes (35.3 percent), and 9-of-14 foul shots (64.3 percent).

The Crusaders, who led 36-25 at halftime, outrebounded Lander, 49-41.
