Box Score AIKEN – Ty'hesha Reynolds and Kayla West combined for 44 points and Alexis Armstrong posted a double-double Friday evening to lead the Lander women's basketball team to an 81-67 non-conference victory over Mount Olive at the Holley Tractor/Crescent Automotive Conference Challenge hosted by USC Aiken at the Convocation Center.
Lander opens the season at 1-0, while Mount Olive is 0-1. The Lady Bearcats will face Anderson at 2 p.m. Saturday in the second day of the Challenge.
Reynolds scored 23 points and West 21, while Armstrong netted 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Reynolds connected on 10-of-16 field goals, including 3-of-5 threes. West was 7-of-17 from the field, including two threes and 5-of-6 free throws.
Mount Olive's Joneiqua Gary and Katie Paschal both scored 15 points and Kirksten Mitchell added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Lander connected on 29-of-68 field goals for 42.6 percent, including 7-of-14 threes for 50 percent. Lander was 16-of-22 from the free throw line for 72.7 percent.
The Lady Trojans connected on 25-of-71 field goals for 35.2 percent, including 6-of-16 threes for 37.5 percent. Mount Olive sank 11-of-16 foul shots for 68.8 percent.
Mount Olive outrebounded Lander, 49-44. Lander committed 13 turnovers, while the Lady Trojans had 20.
