GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team stretched its win streak to four games on Monday afternoon after sweeping Le Moyne College, 9-1 and 2-1, in a non-conference doubleheader at Doug Spears Field.
Lander improves to 10-10 overall, while Le Moyne drops to 2-4.
In the first game, Amanda Hamby (1-2) earned the win after allowing one earned run on eight hits in the complete six innings.
Le Moyne's Amy Bogolin (0-1) took the loss, striking out one, walking three and allowing three earned runs on four hits in one inning.
Lander kicked off the scoring with three runs in the second inning when Chasity Davis and Alyssa Hartley scored on bases-loaded walks and Brittney Sheriff's RBI single plated Casey Corbitt.
Le Moyne cut the margin to 3-1 in the third on Kristi Capuano's RBI single to centerfield.
Lander extended the margin to 5-1 in the third on Brittney Sheriff's RBI double to centerfield, then made it 7-1 in the fifth on Jaime Presnell's two-RBI single.
The game ended in the sixth via the eight-run rule on Melanie Davis' two-run, home run over the left field fence.
For Lander, Melanie Davis batted 3-for-3 with one homer and one double, Sheriff went 3-for-3 with one double, Presnell went 2-for-4 and Hartley 2-for-3.
For Le Moyne, Cashel (2-for-3), Edmondson (1-for-3) and Shea (2-for-3) all doubled, while Capuano went 2-for-3.
In the second game, Hayley Leissner (7-5) was awarded the win after striking out five, walking one and allowing one earned run on four hits in seven complete innings.
Le Moyne's Sarah Harrison (1-1) took the loss with two strikeouts and one earned run on nine hits in six innings pitched.
Lander took a 1-0 lead in the first when Sheriff scored on Presnell's sacrifice fly, then the Bearcats added their final run in the second on Melanie Davis' RBI single.
The Dolphins' lone run came in the fourth on Capuano's RBI single.
For Lander, Hartley went 3-for-3.
