DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 9-ranked Lander men's tennis team swept the singles matches and won two of three doubles Saturday afternoon in defeating No. 25 North Georgia, 8-1, in a Peach Belt Conference match at the North Georgia Tennis Complex.
Lander improves to 14-3 overall and 5-2 in the PBC, while North Georgia drops to 12-4, 2-3.
In singles, No. 1 Paul-Henri Arrigoni (L) def. Felipe Friedrich (NG), 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 Vincent Verpeaux (L) def. Mateus Camasmie (NG), 6-3, 6-1; No. 3 Adam Jonsson (L) def. Mathew Guida (NG), 6-4, 6-2; No. 4 Samuel Poutignat (L) def. Rodrigo Magan (NG), 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 10-5; No. 5 Diego Zegarra (L) def. Giovani Santos (NG), 6-3, 6-2; and No. 6 Oscar Axelsson (L) def. Brandon Sloan (NG), 6-3, 6-0.
In doubles, No. 1 Verpeaux/Jonsson (L) def. Friedrich/Camasmie (NG), 8-6; No. 2 Axelsson/Ross Armstrong (L) def. Guida/Magan (NG), 9-8 (7-2); and No. 3 Santos/Sloan (NG) def. Poutignat/Arrigoni (L), 8-3.
