GREENWOOD - The UNC Pembroke golf team shot a 5-under-par 283 Tuesday and rallied from seventh place to win the two-day, two-round Lander Bearcat Golf Classic at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
Georgia College's Joe Young took individual medalist honors with a 6-under-par 138 (70-68), while UNCP's Jonathan McCurry (72-68), Carson-Newman's Gavin Hay (69-71), Queens' Ryan Sevigny (69-71), and Newberry's Ben Lown (71-69) tied for second at 140.
UNC Pembroke was followed by: 2. Carson-Newman 575, 3. Georgia College 576, 4. Barton 580, 5. USC Aiken 581, 6. Queens 582, 7. Lander 583, 8. Georgia Southwestern 584, 9. Newberry 586, 10. For Lander, Wes Bowman (68-73) tied for sixth with 141, Max Fischer (69-75) tied for 15th with 144, Roberto Nasalli-Rocca (79-72) and Thad Wier (73-78) tied for 54th with 151 and Tyler Foxx (77-76) tied for 71st with 153.
