AUGUSTA - The top-ranked and undefeated Lander women's basketball team stretched its school-record win streak to 22 games with its biggest win of the season Saturday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated Augusta State 97-41 in a Peach Belt Conference game in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Lander, which committed only nine turnovers in the game, improves to 22-0 overall and 12-0 in the PBC, while Augusta State drops to 6-14, 0-12. The 56-point winning margin is 16 points better than Lander's 40-point victory over Flagler.

Ciara Lyons led the Lady Bearcat attack with a season-high 25 points. Lyons, a two-time All-PBC player, connected on 11-of-14 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws. Shannon McKever, another two-time All-PBC player, added her 11th double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Jasmine Judge connected on 6-of-12 three pointers for 18 points. Mukia Myrick led the team in assists with seven, while Tasheba Butler added five.

Blair Egardo led Augusta State with 13 points, while Waneta Carlisle had a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lady Bearcats dominated early as they reached their first double figure lead at 19-5 at 14-15 on a Shannon McKever layup. Brianna Webb's three pointer at 11:10 gave Lander a 27-5 lead and the team registered its first 30-point margin at 3:57 when another McKever layup gave Lander a 47-16 advantage with 3:57 left in the half.

Lander, which led 52-20 at halftime, connected on 39-of-87 shots for 44.8 percent, including 8-of-24 three pointers for 33.3 percent. Lander made 11-of-18 free throws for 61.1 percent.

Augusta State was 16-of-53 from the field for 30.2 percent, including 3-of-11 from the three-point line for 27.3 percent. The Lady Jags made 6-of-10 foul shots for 60 percent.

The Lady Bearcats will host Armstrong Atlantic State Unversity at 5:30 p.m., Monday, in a PBC contest in Horne Arena.
