GREENWOOD - Curtis Berger scored from directly in front of the goal on an assist from Javier Portillo early in the second half Saturday night to lead the Tusculum men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Lander.
Tusculum improves to 1-2-2 overall, while Lander falls to 2-3.
Horton McKinney gave Tusculum a 1-0 lead at 33:53 when he scored his first goal of the season off Andres Jarquin's corner kick.
The Bearcats' Craig Hughes tied the game at 1-1 when he netted his fourth goal of the season at 38:37 on an assist from Aaron Brittain.
Berger's winning goal, also his first of the season, came at 46:23.
Lander outshot Tusculum, 20-10, and led in corner kicks, 9-5.
Tusculum goalkeeper Andy Goellner made 10 saves, while Lander's Scott Playle had three.
