GREENWOOD - Only two points separated the Lander and Armstrong Atlantic volleyball teams in the first four sets, but AASU rallied for a 15-5 win in the fifth to claim a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference victory in Horne Arena. AASU won 28-30, 26-24, 27-25, 23-25, 15-5.
Armstrong Atlantic improves to 16-11 overall and 5-5 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 10-13, 4-8.
Magi Nottingham led the Lander attack with 16 kills, while Courtney Simmons added 11. Melissa McCracken and Candace LaRocca both posted a double-doubles. McCracken had 10 kills and 22 digs, while LaRocca had 27 assists and 14 digs. Abbey Focht contributed 26 assists and Madison Kubal recorded 24 digs. Hannah Dederick had four block assists.
Armstrong Atlantic was led by Torrie Bevolo (19 kills, 15 digs), Jessica Santaniello (16 kills, 15 digs), Gwen Clarke (12 kills), Amanda Jones (11 kills), Megan Pando (53 assists, 18 digs), and Casey Howett (10 digs).
Lander will host Flagler College at 2 p.m., Saturday, in a PBC contest.
