GREENWOOD - Torrie Bevolo posted a double-double Friday night to lead the Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball team to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander in Horne Arena. The Pirates won, 25-13, 25-15, 20-25, 25-19.
After winning the third game, Lander kept pace with the Pirates in the fourth and was tied with the guests at 12-12 before AASU outscored the Bearcats 9-2 to take a 21-14 lead.
AASU improves to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while Lander is 8-3, 1-1.
Melissa McCracken paced the Bearcats with 16 kills, nine digs and two service aces, while Candace LaRocca had 33 assists and eight digs. Chelsey Corgan had a team-high 10 digs and Madison Kubal added nine.
AASU was led by Bevolo (10 kills, 12 digs), Kathrin Standhardinger (14 kills, two service aces), Amy Birkemeier (13 kills), Michele Remlinger (11 kills), Kristin Standhardinger (44 assists, two service aces), and Casey Howett (19 digs, three service aces).
The Pirates had a .298 hitting percentage for the game, while Lander had .116.
Lander will host Flagler College in Horne Arena at 1 p.m. Saturday.
