SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 20 Lander men's tennis team claimed all three doubles matches en route to defeating No. 27 Augusta State, 5-1, Friday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University. Lander swept the doubles matches as No. 1 T.C. Valle/Sheharyar Wali (LU) def. Bernardo Fernandes/Jenner Stevenson, 8-5; No. 2 Damien Cordesse/Juan Manrique (LU) def. Henrique Boturao/Frederico Mendes, 8-5; and No. 3 Gary Bertoldo/Levan Clark (LU), def. Guilherme Ferraz/Rafael Milhati, 8-1.
Augusta State cut the margin to 3-1 when Stevenson defeated Lander's Cordesse, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
Lander stretched the margin to 4-1 at No. 4 singles when Valle defeated Ferraz, 6-1, 6-0, and defeated the Jaguars when Levan Clark downed Henrique Boturao, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
