GREENWOOD - The No. 16 Lander men's tennis team won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles to claim a 6-3 Peach Belt Conference victory over Columbus State Saturday at the Joe Cabri Courts.
Lander improves to 13-4 overall and 6-2 in the PBC, while No. 27 CSU drops to 8-6, 3-3.
In singles, No. 1 Frank Suarez (CSU) def. Guilherme Fonseca, 6-4, 6-3; No. 2 Guillermo Echevarria (CSU) def. Damien Cordesse, 6-3, 7-5; No. 3 Henrik Willers (LU) def. Luis Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 George Wilkinson (LU) def. Paul van Rensburg, 6-4, 6-3; No. 5 Andre Ivarsson (LU) def. Nemanja Djuric, 6-1, 6-1; and No. 6 T.C. Valle (LU) def. Hernando Ortiz, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, No. 1 Fonseca/Cordesse (LU) def. Ortiz/Gonzalez, 8-2; No. 2 Ivarsson/Willers (LU) def. Rensburg/Echevarria, 8-1; and No. 3 Suarez/Cojbasic (CSU) def. Valle/Fedoseyev, 8-6.
