GREENWOOD – The No. 8-ranked Lander men's tennis team cruised to its second straight shutout Saturday morning when it defeated North Georgia College & State University, 9-0, in their Peach Belt Conference opener at the Joe Cabri Courts.

Lander improves to 2-1 overall.

In singles, No. 1 George Wilkinson (LU) def. Gustavo Carballal, 3-6, 6-2 (10-4); No. 2 Guilherme Fonseca (LU) def. Jacob Eastwood, 6-1, 6-1; No. 3 Henrik Willers (LU) def. Sam Moore, 6-0, 6-2; No. 4 Andre Ivarsson (LU) def. Marijn Bal, 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Damien Cordesse (LU) def. Santiago Carballal, 6-0, 6-4; and No. 6 T.C. Valle (LU) def. Vlad Lumezeanu, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, No. 1 Ivarsson/Willers (LU) def. Eastwood/Carballal, 8-3; No. 2 Fonseca/Wilkinson (LU) def. Moore/Grant Partrick, 8-5; and No. 3 Valle/Kamilov (LU) def. Carballal/Aguilon, 8-5.
