DAHLONEGA, Ga.----Syretha Marble scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the North Georgia College & State University women's basketball team to a 97-93 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander Monday night.
North Georgia improves to 13-6 overall and 6-6 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 14-8, 8-4.
LaShonda Chiles and Tiara Good led Lander with 25 and 24 points respectively, while Stephanie Ponds netted 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Shannon McKever scored 11 points. Kianna Smith led Lander in assists with seven and steals with four. Chiles connected on 10-of-19 field goals, including 5-of-7 three pointers.
For the Saints, Megan Huffman added 19 points, Lindsey Kitchens 16, Kourtney Singleton 15 and Rachael Jolley 10 points and 13 rebounds.
NGCSU, which led 58-50 at halftime, connected on 35-of-73 field goals for 47.9 percent, 9-of-26 three pointers for 34.6 percent, and 18-of-23 for 78.3 percent.
Lander made 35-of-75 shots from the floor for 46.7 percent, 11-of-24 three pointers for 45.8 percent and 12-of-16 free throws for 75 percent. North Georgia won the rebounding war, 42-35.
