MORROW, Ga. - Led by Shantel Ragin's 28 points, the Clayton State University women's basketball team placed five players in double figures Saturday evening to lead the Lady Lakers to a 99-90 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander at the Athletics & Fitness Center.
Clayton State improves to 17-8 overall and 12-6 in the PBC, while Lander drops to 17-11, 11-7.
Shannon McKever led Lander with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Tiara Good added 20 points and five assists, Stephanie Ponds 16 points and six rebounds, and LaShonda Chiles 13. McKever connected on 13-of-16 field goals and 2-of-4 free throws.
For Clayton State, Marie St. Fort added 18 points, Lisa Jackson 13, Roberta Phillips 12 points and nine rebounds and Shanrika Hardeman 10 points.
The Lady Lakers, who led 40-42 at halftime, made 40-of-74 field goals for 54.1 percent, including 10-of-20 three point shots for 50 percent. They were also 9-of-17 from the free throw line for 52.9 percent.
Lander connected on 38-of-69 field goals for 55.1 percent, including 5-of-19 three pointers for 26.3 percent. They made 9-of-13 free throws for 69.2 percent.
Lander outrebounded Clayton State, 38-35, including 18 offensive rebounds.
