Judge leads Lady Bearcats to win over North Greenville

GREENWOOD - Jasmine Judge led seven double-figure scorers with 22 points, pacing Lander to a 103-65 victory over North Greenville University in a non-conference women's basketball game Tuesday night at Horne Arena.

The Lady Bearcats (3-1) won their third consecutive game, scoring more than 100 points each time. North Greenville fell to 3-2.

Judge did almost all of her damage from 3-point range, making 6-of-10 from behind the arc including 5-of-7 in the first half.

Keondra Barnes and Ciara Lyons added 14 points apiece for Lander, Mukia Myrick had 11 points and nine assists, and TaSheba Butler, Tierra Young and Kaylyn Small each scored 10 points. Small had a game-high eight rebounds while Barnes added seven boards. Judge added four steals.

Karly Stache led the Crusaders with 16 points while Jacquetta Golden added 14 points. Amanda Milner added eight points and a team-high five rebounds.

The Lady Bearcats scored the first nine points of the game on a lay-up by Lyons, Judge's first 3-pointer of the night, and Myrick's free throw and 3-pointer. Lander's lead grew to 13-2 and 17-5.

Stache hit a 3-pointer to pull North Greenville within 17-8 at the 14:33 mark. But the Lady Bearcats blew the game open with a 21-5 run, including three baskets by Barnes, Myrick's two baskets and a free throw, and Katie Hupp's two jumpers. The run pushed Lander's lead to 38-13 with 8:32 left.

Judge hit four 3-pointers over the final eight-plus minutes of the first half, helping the Lady Bearcats build a 58-29 halftime lead.

Lander's lead surpassed the 30-point mark early in the second half, growing to 36 on Judge's sixth 3-pointer of the game, making it 82-46 with 10:50 left. The Lady Bearcats had their first 40-point lead when Judge hit just her second basket from inside the arc, pushing the score to 88-48 with 8:22 to go. It would be their largest lead of the game.

Lander hit the 90-point mark with 6:41 left on a basket by Lyons. Young scored with 48 seconds left to give the Lady Bearcats a 100-63 lead.

For the game, Lander made 39 of 80 field goals (49 percent), 18 of 27 free throws (67 percent), and seven of 16 from 3-point range (44 percent). North Greenville hit 20 of 53 shots (38 percent), 22 of 28 free throws (79 percent) and 3-of-10 from behind the arc (30 percent). The Lady Bearcats had a 46-35 advantage on the boards. Lander forced 30 turnovers while committing 15.
