GREENWOOD - The Lander volleyball team suffered its first Peach Belt Conference loss of the season Tuesday night when the Bearcats fell to Armstrong Atlantic State University, 25-22, 25-18, 15-25, 25-19, in Horne Arena.
AASU improves to 14-5 overall and 2-1 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 14-5, 2-1.
Kerri Sorensen and Candace LaRocca each posted double-doubles to lead the Bearcats. Sorensen had a game-high 14 kills and 13 digs, while LaRocca posted 36 assists and 11 digs. Marina Camps had 26 digs, Kay Stewart 13 kills, Abbey Focht 11 digs, and Magi Nottingham and Mallory Wasik nine digs each.
Armstrong Atlantic's Torrie Bevolo and Hanna Segebart also posted double-doubles. Bevolo had 13 kills and 25 digs, and Segebart had 46 assists and 10 digs. Gwendolyn Clarke and Michele Remlinger had 11 kills each, while Rindy Vidovich added 10. Casey Howett registered 27 digs, Nicole Yates had 13, and Marina Marinova 12.
