Butler’s three-point play leads Lady Bearcats past Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga.----Andrea Butler converted a three-point play (a layup and a free throw) with 34 seconds remaining in the game Wednesday night to help the Lander women's basketball team remain undefeated in the Peach Belt Conference as the Lady Bearcats defeated Augusta State, 76-74, at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Lander improves to 11-4 overall and 5-0 in the PBC, while Augusta State drops to 9-4, 3-3.

Tiara Good and TaSheba Butler scored 23 points each to lead the Lady Bearcats, while Shannon McKever added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Good connected on 6-of-22 field goals and 8-of-8 free throws. TaSheba Butler was 9-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-4 from the three-point line, and 2-of-2 from the foul line.

Nicole Mealing led Augusta State with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Tracey Paschal added 12 points. Porsha White had nine rebounds for the Lady Jaguars.

Lander, which led 39-28 at halftime, connected on 26-of-73 field goals for 35.6 percent, 8-of-23 three-point shots for 34.8 percent and 16-of-20 free throws for 80 percent.

The Lady Jags were 28-of-73 from the field for 38.4 percent, 4-of-15 from the three-point line for 26.7 percent, and 14-of-21 from the foul line for 66.7 percent.

ASU outrebounded Lander, 62-36.
