AIKEN, S.C.----The Lander volleyball team splits its non-conference games Saturday with Wingate University and Mount Olive College at the USC Aiken Invitational. The Bearcats lost only its second game of the season when Wingate claimed a 4-0 victory, but Lander came back and defeated Mount Olive, 3-1. Wingate won the first match, 30-19, 30-27, 23-30, 30-25, while Lander scored a 28-30, 30-16, 30-26, 30-21 triumph over Mount Olive.
Lander is 10-2 overall.
Against Wingate, Mallory Wasik and Andrea Griffin had 14 kills each, while Candace LaRocca led the Bearcats with 42 assists and three service aces. Melissa Trippany added 22 digs and two aces, while Sara Senn recorded 17 digs.
Against Mount Olive, Wasik, Senn, Griffin and Kerri Sorensen had 11 kills each, while LaRocca totaled 42 assists and four service aces. Trippany added 15 digs to go along iwth Senn's 15 digs and four block assists. Griffin also had four block assists.
